How to convert kelvins to degrees Celsius
Formula: °C = K − 273.15
Worked example: 300 K → 300 − 273.15 = 26.85 °C
Subtract 273.15 from kelvins to get degrees Celsius. Absolute zero, 0 K, is −273.15 °C, and the surface of the Sun, about 5,778 K, is roughly 5,505 °C.

What is a kelvin?
The kelvin is the SI unit of temperature. Its zero is absolute zero, the coldest possible temperature, and its steps are the same size as Celsius degrees, so 0 °C is 273.15 K. It is written without a degree sign and is used in physics, lighting color temperature and astronomy.
What is a degree Celsius?
The Celsius scale puts the freezing point of water at 0 °C and its boiling point at sea level at 100 °C. It is the temperature scale of almost every country outside the US, of science and of medicine. A change of one degree Celsius equals a change of one kelvin.
