How to convert megabits per second to megabytes per second
Formula: MB/s = Mbps ÷ 8
Worked example: 100 Mbps → 100 ÷ 8 = 12.5 MB/s
Divide megabits per second by 8 to get megabytes per second. A 100 Mbps plan downloads at most 12.5 MB/s, and a 300 Mbps plan 37.5 MB/s, a little less in practice because of protocol overhead.

What is one megabit per second?
The megabit per second, one million bits per second, is the unit of internet plans, Wi-Fi speed tests and video bitrates. HD streaming needs about 5 Mbps and 4K about 15 to 25 Mbps per stream.
What is one megabyte per second?
The megabyte per second is one million bytes, or 8 megabits, per second. Download clients, game launchers and SD cards use it: a card rated 90 MB/s writes 4K video comfortably.
