How to convert cups to milliliters
Formula: ml = cup × 236.588
Worked example: 2 cup → 2 × 236.588 = 473.176 ml
A US cup is 236.59 ml. Recipes often round it: US nutrition labels use 240 ml, while Canadian and Australian recipes use a 250 ml metric cup. For most cooking the difference does not matter, but in baking with several cups of liquid it adds up, so measure carefully or weigh.

What is a milliliter?
The milliliter is one thousandth of a liter, exactly the volume of a cubic centimeter. It is the unit of medicine doses, perfume and cosmetics, and of drink labels in most countries; US bottles show it next to fluid ounces, as in 16.9 fl oz (500 ml).
